NEWS FROM ENDOW URBANDALE 

Endow Urbandale granted $20,500 to 7 organizations on Thursday Nov. 3, 2022. These organizations were selected because of their service towards Urbandale residents. The organizations are:

  • Urbandale Adult Band: $1,650 to purchase a five-piece drum set, drum cases and other various percussion instruments.

  • Urbandale Community Theater: $2,200 to offset the production costs for the 2023 production of “The Drowsy Chaperone,” as well as the purchase of a keyboard.

  • Urbandale Garden Club: $700 to purchase seeds and to support overall maintenance of their pollinator garden.

  • Urbandale Schools and Alumni Foundation: $5,000 to award Making-A-Difference grants.

  • Living History Farms: $2,500 to support a new “Cultivation Complex” that would allow for year-round programming. EU committed to support for four years for a total of $10,000.

  • Waukee Community Schools Foundation: $5,000 to offer a mental health, mentorship and leadership pilot program to Urbandale residents in the Waukee Schools. About 2,800 students live in the City of Urbandale and go to the Waukee School District.

  • Rotary Club of Northwest Des Moines: $3,000 to provide PreK-12 children in need with a properly sized and gendered new winter coat.

Urbandale residents and supporters gathered on November 4, 2021 to honor eight community organizations serving Urbandale residents and award $31,600 to in grants.


Those honored were:


*Urbandale Historical Society was awarded $6,000 for derecho repair

*Urbandale Community Theater was awarded $2,000 for the 2022 production of Bye Bye Birdie

*Urbandale Education Foundation was awarded $4,000 for Make-A-Difference grants

*Rotary Club of Northwest Des Moines was awarded $5,000 for winter coats

*Urbandale Adult Band was awarded $800 for new music

*Urbandale Lions Club was awarded for $2,800 for new bingo tables

*Waukee Education Foundation was awarded $6,000 for mental health services for Urbandale residents in the Waukee School District

*Urbandale Community Action Network was awarded $5,000 for new technology


Applications are submitted each fall and then the Endow Urbandale board selects the recipients based on need and merit. To date, Endow Urbandale has granted $170,751 to local organizations serving Urbandale residents.
